Saturday 3rd November
A pleasant autumnal afternoon wander around the woods of Alderley Edge.
Distance: 2.5km; Ascent: negligible; Sunny; with Lynsey & Isabel
With a dry forecast for this afternoon we decided to head over to the woodlands on Alderley Edge for an autumnal walk in the woods. We were
last here in the spring when we walked through the woods to Hare Hill and it was nice to return for the autumn colours.

The Wizard Walk! |
After lunch in the Wizard Tearoom, we continued the wizard theme and set off on the Wizard Walk! No pushchair or rucksack carrier today as Isabel is now keen on her walking :-)

Setting off into the woods |
There was some fantastic light in the woods, with the sunshine lighting up patches of bronze fallen leaves on the ground. I tried to capture it in the photo below, but it was even better in real life!

Alderley Edge Woods |
After a while we reached the northern most extent of our walk at Castle Rock, from where there were excellent views across parts of the Cheshire Plain towards the southern Pennines and the Peak District.

After retracing our steps for a few hundred metres, we forked left along the edge through more pleasant woodland to reach a clump of pine trees and shortly afterwards Stormy Point.

The views from Stormy Point were excellent towards the Peak District. After a short break here, we continued along the Wizard Walk to return to the carpark around an hour and a quarter after we left. It had been a pleasant short wander in the woods, with some good views too :-)
